LED “Up-Lighting” Makes Jack-O-Lanterns Glow Safely

It’s been called a Centerpiece Light.  Some call it a Vase Base.  I call it easy breezy portable LED Up-Lighting.  You’ve seen such vibey lights at wedding receptions, high school reunions and swanky night events.  But have you ever thought to use Up-Lighting with your Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns?  Oh yes, this is so great for parents with curious tiny humans running around.  No fire?  No problem:

Spooky cute!  Replacing candles with LED Up-Lighting is way too easy.  We just made sure to carve the pumpkin hole beneath its glowing grin.  That’s it!  Leave the top on your pumpkin this year- don’t carve up there, don’t even touch it, and let your LED Base work its magic from below.  Last Halloween, I paired this product with spooky bottles:

How ya like them poison apples?  I KNOW.  Too fab for words.  I’ve got some Tim-Burton-loving, DIY-haunted-house-constructing pals who are going to make use of this lighting effect year round — you’re welcome, friends.  And in case you weren’t sold already…

MORE reasons why FBL Up Lighting rules:

No heat!  Fire is so last season, you guys, ditch those flames and never look back.

  • Pressure activated.  Unpackage, flip the switch, set your weighted decorative piece on top of your Light Base and *voila!*
  • Up-Lighting works wonders beneath bar bottles on display, ice sculptures, glass trophies, translucent works of art and so much more!  Creative types, I know you’re already brainstorming great ideas – do share in the comments below…
  • These LEDs are bright and long lasting thanks to 3 replaceable AAA Batteries.  Lights inside will shine like stars beyond the course of your event.
  • And check this out:  we’re open to your opinion about which solid colors to carry next.  What do you think, good-people-who-buy?  We’re pleased to offer Blue, WhiteMulticolor as you seen in the video, and now unique Purple for Glow Parties.

For dapper cadavers on a smaller scale, be sure to check out our LED Submersibles for an equally mesmerizing effect.  Tiny lights.  Big shine:

Happy hauntings, light loves, have a wonderful holiday and STAY SAFE.

Peace, Love and Bead Crafts!

beads3Bead Crafts knock my socks off. The low cost of wholesale Mardi Gras Beads keeps it cheap, while keepin’ it real with a whole lotta shine & bling.  Bead crafts can transform into seriously effective DIY party decor.  Remember beaded curtains?  Former flower children & alternative types know what I’m talkin’ about:  that sweet jingle jangle of plastic strands as you walk through a doorway.  There are a ton of New Orleans inspired bead creations on Pinterest, but this one reigns supreme, plus can be made to fit windows, neat-o.  I crafted my own magical doorway beaded curtain for Halloween using FBL glow beads – do you like?

bead_crafts<<<  That’s right, amigos, I put that together from scratch with 3 things:  my trusty glue gun, a plank of wood, and a pile of beads.  That’s all you need for curtain bead crafts!  Oh, and patience, have plenty of that on hand, for it’s just repetitive motions once you have the materials gathered.  If you’re ready to dive into the world of bead crafts, get some strands from FBL to go all matchy-matchy like I did (took me 66 total bead necklaces), or go the more eclectic route and add old random beads from past Mardi Gras parades.

Let’s cut to the chase – here’s what ya do:

  • Cut each necklace so they’re now long un-connected strands,
  • Hot glue 2 pieces together to make an extra long strand,
  • Get a plank of wood to hot glue these stands to,
  • Repeat until your bead curtain is full enough to your liking, aaaand there ya have it.

Another one of my favorite bead crafts is archived in our blog from last Mardi Gras when I added our sparkly strands to the brim of a top hat.  Mardi Gras is year ’round for so many party people, so it’s never too early to re-visit this gem.  Special guest appearance by our cool copper wire LED string lights!  Battery powered for crafts, y’all.

Now this spectacular light magic can be done with wine bottles (white over red), vodka bottles, tequila bottles, juice bottles, whatever yummy drinks you plan on treating your Halloween Party guests to.  If it’s translucent & the bottle heavy, it can & will be lit up by this new FBL favorite.  Being the frugal shopper I am, I hit the 99 Cents Store & bought a few decorative empties for my own Halloween party (I celebrate year round). The sloooow color change of our multicolor LED Light Base looks amazing in person:

CaptureRAD.  The DIY paper labels were easy too.  With a quick Pinterest search, you can find lots of spooky drink labels.  I saved a bunch for y’all over on our Halloween board – check that out.  Each image takes you to the blogger who was kind enough to create & share their labels.  From there, all you have to do is print, cut, and tape or paste those babies on blank bottles.  Should our Multicolor Light Bases fly off the shelves this season, keep in mind we have chill steady blue, steady white, and our most recent purple LED Light Base that’s excellent for making tonic water glow.  Purple LED lights make neon containers glow too, much like UV lighting – extra awesome for Glow Parties.

Before you go, take a trip down memory lane.  Here’s more fun ideas for your Halloween party – click on each image to travel back in time:

Want a REAL unique costume this year? Easy-attach LED lights turn heads + help you win costume contests, yes, plural.  We’ve got clip-on LEDs, and flat-back LEDs for attaching any way you wish, crafters.

Big ol’ scary toy spiders in glowing specimen jars, EEK!  The secret to this simple effect is stretched out cotton balls placed over submersible LED lights, or some prefer glow sticks.

Fun Party Favor Ideas: Fiber Optics Are Where It’s At

Hola, craft fans, welcome back for more fun & unique Party Favor Ideas.  Today’s little lesson is brought to you by an FBL product that remains great quality, looks visually stunning, AND is affordable even on a tight budget.  To bring this party favor idea to life even MORE so, I bought decorative appliques and hot glued them on the clip of our magical multicolor LED Fiber Optic Hair Lights:

BOOM.  Party Favor Ideas will never be the same.  Decorated like so, or worn as-is with plain black clip, FBL Hair Fiber Optics really are amazing party pleasers.  Decorative appliques can be found in abundance at all craft stores, so in one trip, I got the pretty paper flowers shown above, fluffy feathers, sparkling snowflakes (for next blog post *wink*), rockin’ rhinestones, and glittery spiders in a web for this upcoming Halloween – how ya like them apples?

Our hair fibers are luxuriously long as you can see, but –get this– you can trim them for shorter hair styles.  We last discussed that when I added these fiber optics to a pretty feather wreath  (*ahem* over here) > > > > > > > > >  so check that link before you snip snip.  This magical party favor idea is seriously great for all celebrations: every holiday, princess theme parties, regular ol’ birthday parties, even normal nights out on the town.  This subtle light product is an absolute winner.

brightideaBONUS fact:  FBL Hair Fibers have changeable batteries. Awesome!  Long as you keep the hot glue strictly in front, the backs will remain easy to access – just remove 2 tiny screws & refill with 2 CR1220 cell batteries.  You BET we sell wholesale bulk batteries!

So do you love it, or do you love it, DIY party planners?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, feel free to suggest something new to try with these (I WILL DO IT, love taking requests), plus stay tuned for Part 2 of Fun With Fiber Optic Hair Clips.  I’m decorating more as I type, got some winter themed SNOWFLAKES goin’ on, oh just you wait…snowflakes are ALL the rage right now…

Make Your Own LED Clothing! Yes You Can!

NEWS FLASH, light loves:  LED clothing does not have to be expensive.  It can be done on a budget – I’m living proof.  LED lights themselves are actually a total value, so what causes such high price tags on professionally-made LED clothing?  It’s the time, care & effort put into sewing around delicate wires & programming light shows, like in this video we’re such a fan of.  BIG UPs & credit go to thee artist known as Little Boots!  This dress is inspiring me in more ways than one…

Amazing, right?!  Hearts just shot out of my eyeballs, for that is LED clothing at its finest.  But alas I’m Queen Bargain Hunter and always hustlin’, not much time to make detailed, elaborate LED clothing.  So!  I had to come up with my own way of makin’ light up boss threads.  Eliminate the wires & bulky battery pack, add a clip to the back of each LED light, and whAmmy, you too can have your own quicky DIY LED clothing.  If you’re a creative costume maker, the possibilities are endless.  Check out the totally awesome light suit jacket lapels I put together in 5 minutes:

That’s 3.5 minutes to unwrap each LED light, 0.5 minute to pull out their safety tabs, and 1 minute to clip them on equal distances apart.  YOU’RE WELCOME, world.

If doing this for a play, a production, for Cosplay, or just an extra-crazy night out, reinforce your LED lights with simple thread & needle so you don’t knock ’em off during your sweet dance moves.

Another alternative is our fairy lights! They come in blue, white, pink and multicolor. They come with a thin battery pack so it’s easy to tape and hide, the wired string lights make it easy for you to sew or just wire into your clothing.

When the party’s over & it’s back to business for your suit jacket or what have you, snip each thread loop & disassemble your homemade LED clothing…though you may not want to…and that’s OK.

Til next time, light loves!

DIY Light Crafts: Add Light Clips To Halloween Glitter Skulls!

Good day, crafty ladies & gents.                                                                                       Back with more DIY light crafts for fellow Halloween party animals.  Today’s topic: Halloween Glitter Skulls & how to make them look WAY more awesome.

Halloween Glitter Skulls & other Halloween shapes made of styrofoam are all the rage right now + inexpensive as all get out.  Found this cute skull & spider topped headband at Michael’s Craft Store.  Accentuated it EASY with 2 slow color change “Aurora” light clips.  Just remove the tiny pads that come on each clip (for use as LED earrings), stick the clips out, then shove them into the eye sockets of your Halloween Glitter Skulls.  BAM!  Whammy!  Get ready for compliments, fashionistas.  If you’re partying extra hard while wearing something like this, just add some glue to the light clip backing & you’re good to go, a.k.a. dance that booty off without losing your lights!  untz, untz

A little background on the Aurora clips, for they are my favorite & good for so much more than Halloween glitter skulls:  they’re named after aurora borealis, that magical light display up in the northern skies.  Dreamy to the MAX.  Not only do they make for unique party earrings, but I clip them into up-do hairstyles.  Add a few scattered flashing light clips to give the illusion that your princess hair is sparkling, or fill your up-do hairstyle with a bunch of Aurora lights for a futuristic glowing ‘do.  The slow movement from color to color is easy on the eyes, plus the white cap over the LEDs dims them just a bit; essential if you’re wearing these in a darkened room or dimly lit bar.  Our Aurora lights are definitely more subtle vs. our other flashy colors with clear caps.

OK, back to sprucing up our website with more fun new holiday stuff for you to check out!
